In 1913 the NC Fire Dept. went from horses to Horsepower.
This Seagrave truck was housed in No 2 Firehouse. In the
picture are HiShearer, City Marshall, and Fred Breese, Dept.
Truck Driver. Financed by loan through the Nevada County
Bank, supported by signatures of 44 volunteer firemen, it
didn't costthe taxpayerapenny. Four years later a 2nd truck
was purchased by the same method through Citizen's Bank and
housed in No I Firehouse.
