S-1919 THE OLD STONE HALL AT THE AMERICAN VICTORIAN MUSEUM 325 Spring St., Nevada City, Calif. One of the few remaining examples of the massive stone and timber construction typical of California mining areas in the Victorian period. Built to house Miner’s Foundry when it moved to this site after the fire of 1856. Place of manufacture of the famous Pelton Wheel, architectural iron castings, machine parts and mining equipment until July 1974. The Old Stone Hall has been rebuilt to house the Museum's Public Dining Room and exhibits of 19th Century artifacts, including the exceptional iron chandeliers from a church in Brighton, England. The American Victorian Museum is the only one in America devoted exclusively to the preservation and study of 19th century art, craft and artifacts. Pub.
