in California..The Woman. Suffrage
Association mee's next Thursday to
nominate officers for the ensuing year.
ihe City Election,
The election for city officers will take
w be ho contest except for the Marshulship and little interest seems to be
uken. It is highly important that the
city, a8 it is now out of debt, should be
krpt 80, and to this end good men
suvuld be chosen for Trustees. We
tel confident that citizens could not do
better than re-elect the old Board, or
at least & majority of. them.
Sunday School Institate, 8 ~
A county Sundaf School Institute, in
which all friends of Sunday schools, of
every denomination are-invited-to-unite,
will meet at Grass Valley to-day, under
the auspices of J. H< Vincent, D. D., of
New York. Mr. ‘Vincent is one of the
leading Sanday school men of the coun,
try, and will make the proceedings interesting and profitable to all who attend” We understand an. afternoon
and evening session of the Institute
will be held in this city to-morrow.
Fire at You Bet.
On Sunday last, the residence of W.
_W. Cozzens, at You. Bet, took -fire—in
the roof by sparks frown a chimney of a
neighboring: louse, and was: -barning
rapidly, when it was discovered by some
gentlemen who were standing in front
of Peter Drunzer’s hotel. They hastened to the spot and succeeced in stopping
the fire before any material damage
was dene.
wia Pigeons,
We understand that wild pigeons
are-very numerous on Cement ridge,
West of this city, A gentleman went
out on Monday and in a very short
time killed eleven. Yesterday a party
of four went out tocontinue the slaughter, Thess birds are said to be 4n good
Condition and of fine flavor at this
Season. They make excellent pot pie.

ethibition of the North Bioomfield
Public. sehool, A. A. Smith, teacher,
will be held. The programme, consist'ng of recitations, Gialogues, etc. will
exceedingly interesting, and there
will no doubt be a large attendance of
the people in that locality.

Try it! ;
Tt-is amusing that the feeble should totter,
with uncertain eteps.over the face of the earth
in danger every day of falling victims té the
morbid influences by which we are all surrounded, when a tested and proven yegetabie
tome, capable of endowing them)with the vigor they need, is procurable in every city town
and settlement, It ‘Might reasonab!y be tho’t
that after the twelve years’ experience which
the world has had of Hostetter’s Bitters, all
would know that its effect fs to prevent disease,
At certain seasons the atmosphere is surcharged with the seeds of intermittents, remittants, rheumatism, pulmonary disorders,
bilious complaints and the like. Persons
whose nervous systems are relaxed are the
first to succumb to these distempers. Brace
up the phyrical energics then with this potential vegetableton’c. It is the most powerful
Tecuperant which the botanical kingdom has
ever yielded to patient research and experiment. Try it, ‘The blindest disciple of the
old medical dogmas will at least admit thata
‘tonic and alterative, compounded of approved
herbs, roots and barks can do no harm, while
the testimony of thousands invites a trial of
its virtnes. :
Vigor is the thing most needed in these
cases as well as in dispepsia and nervous
affection, and Hostetter's Bitters is the safest,
surest and most wholesome strengthening
Preparation that human skill has yet concocted.
a
Hundreds of physicians have abandoned all
the offieinal receipts and prescribed this
harmless tonic as 9 preventive-and cure of
all cases of chills and fever.
