“The County Superintendent and the County Boards of Examination shall hold competi
tive examinations, before the first of May, in
cach year, ofall persons desiring to become
pupils of the Normal School, which examinaticn shall be conducted in the same manner as

beginning at 10 o’clock, A. M.
Applicants will be examined in Orthography, .teading, Penmanship, _ Common
School Arithmetic, Grammar, Geography
and Cemposition. Those who pass the examin.tion will receive a Certificate’ of Appoinment, and be admitted to the Normal
School until further examination; unless they
wish to enter thé senior class. The next
term of the State Normal Scnool will open at
San Jose, of the 141.h of Jurie. Catalogues
will be distributed among the teachers of the
