The Overland Star Minstrels will ~~—“forni in the-‘Theatre to-night. At Marysville and other places where they have appeared, they are highly spoken of, and they have most excellent music. The performers are onginal, and are first class delineators of negro minstrelsy. Among {heir number is the renowed Segnior _antonia, the greatest harp player in the world. They have one of the best quadrille bands in the State, a good caller, and will give at the end ofthe performance a social dance. All those who want to ep joy an excellent entertainment and ‘a pleasant dance, should attend the Theatre .tonight.Republicans Turn Out. Amass meeting of Republicans will be held at the Theatre to-morrow night, for the purpose of nominateing one delegate from the Township. to be voted for as delegates from the county at large, and also persons to he yoted for as township representatives at the Primary on the 13th inst. The Primary will be held under the Porter Primary Law to elect Delegates to the State Convention which’ meets at Sacramento on the %th. The meeting to-morrow night is the opening of the Presidential 4 It is reported that the old California Mine, on-Piety Hill, has been purchased by Gashwiler and others. This mine was last worked by the Eagle Co., of Gonnecticut, of which Pattee was Superintendent, but it has not been worked for some time. ~ Tkis said to be on the same bed as the Gold Tunnel mine, which is now opened, and in which the owners, some ef who aresaid to be interested in the California purchase, have the greatest confidence. ec v Yesterday several large flocks of pelicans, bound north, passed over this city. At the gap of Sugar Loaf they became bewildered, and circled around for some time, no doubt considering whether to stop at the reseryoirs of the South Yuba Canal Company. «They are probably leaving the State, because they were not included in the sweeping game law passed by the last Legislature. Pelicans. Shanty Removed. An old shanty adjoining the Pennsylfania Engine House was torn down yesterday afternoon. The lot upon which it stands was purchased by the company, at Administrator’s sale, and the boy’s made it lively for the. old shell yesterday afternoon. ouhey propose to improve the lot, and plant it in grass. Summer Drinks. v : John Senner, of this city, is going into the manufacture of spruce beer + and ginger pop, for the Summer trade. He proposes to commence work in a few days. Burglar Caught.
