winds, and the cold weather of the past few
days havé blasted the blossoms and destroy‘ed entirely the prospécts of a large crop of

about one half the peach trées are not yet in
bloom. These will probably yield-well, but
beyond . hope. A gentleman informed us

Mr. SanGent’s Lecrure.—The Sacramento Union says that the Board of Directors of the State Agriculturnl Society, desirous of having the subject of an agricultural college, fur which our next Legislature

invited Hon A. A. Sargent, of this city, to
deliver a lecture some evening during the

The Union people of Rough and Ready
had a “grand time” on the evening of the 2d,
over the fall of Richmond. Walling’s Hotel
was brilliantly illuminated, one hundred guns
were fired impromtu dance was gotten up. Rough ‘and Ready is a patriotic
little “‘barg” and the people are bound to
rejoice over the news of Union victories.

claims of Charles Smith, located at Scott’s
Flat, were “cleaned up” on last. Saturday
