We publish in to-day’e TRanscaipt
an editorial from the Boston Herald
of Sanday, March 30th, in relation
.to the Indicator. The Herald lias a
larger circulatien than any paper in
-the New England States, and as to
ite reliability it is second to none ;
therefore, we have no hesitancy in
_. publishing the article and give fall
credence to all it has tosay about
the matter. The Dr, Lighthill referred to in the artice, is a brother
of Dr. E. B. Lighthill who has been
professionally visiting this city dauring the past two months. The Indi
cator will arrive here some time during this or next week in charge of
Mr. Pricce. If it works satistactorily in this section, the croakers will
soon see (what they predict will
never take place) a genuine boom.
We know nothing about the Indicator, except what we have seen in the
papers in relation to it. We hope it
will prove one-half of that claimed
for it, which would be good enough.
When it arrives it will be tested by
practical miners. and demonetarted
whether it is a good or bad instrament for this section of country.
Mining, Ete.
The following dispatch we find in
the Bulletin of Saturday evening:
The snow on the other side of Bear
river, from Fullér lake to Fall creek,
is from three to eight feet in depth:
_Atthe latter place miuing is entirely suspended, that is, on Upper Fal}
creek, while on Lower Fall creek
the Galena mine has been crushing,
but, owing to a broken shaft, has
shut down for a few days. The
enow has impeded the miners considerably from hauling, but now they
are hauling steadily and getting in
considerable ore. The Fall Creek
Mining Company’s mill ietaking out
rock, preparatory to mi ling as soon
asthe weather will permit. The
Yoba and Hagle-bird mines are in
full blast. It is repotted that the
Blue Bell.mine will start up in good
shape in the spring. The Penny &
Ware claim on Diamond creek is
looking fice. They intend puttimg
up a mill as soon as they can get
ene in. Snow at Bowman’s dam is
from 7 to 8 feet, the lake being
entirely covered. There is some
good fishing below it. A party of
six went there on the first, but did
not catch enough to feed one hungry
man. After three days on snow
shoes there and back all. arrived
home snowblind. Timber men are
beginning tocome in daily locking
out for their interests. The Sout
Yuba Water Company is running a
full head of water. The Blue Tent
Company have done some little in
repairing and is running water a
short distance below Omega, supplying some few ravine: diggwgs.
