Thursday night, a foot-pudattempted to rob’
Alex. Gault as he was returning heme. from
his place of business: Just as Alex. waa
to enter his gate, the bighway:can

Gault bad five dollars in quarters and half.
dollars in bis hand, which he threw inte the
fellows face, and grappled him. In the
tussle, the would be rubber’s pistol went off.
He broke Gault’s held, struck him over the
head with his pisto!, and succeeded in making hiseseape. The robber met two gentlemen in search of the man who fired the
pistol, and inforined'them he had just bees
shot at by a man down ia the ravine. This
is the boldest attempt at robbery which has
been made in this city for some time. There
are anutmber of hard-looking fellows lua fing
Srvund the town, who have no-visible-meansof support, and itis fir to suppose that
other attempts of this churacter will. be
made. As alaw abiding citizen, we.do not
like to advise its violation, but we think
citizens should be prepared to protect themselves against these scoundrels that infest the
town.

as tar back as the Nevada Huse Cu’s. house.

hope it will be fitted up mmmediately.
