KiLLED.—Yesterday morning a cave this city, by which three men lost their lives. The streams of water had been “playing upon @ point in the claims, wuere a strata of pipe clay some twelve or fourteen feetin thickness underlaid the gravel deposit. The streams not doing any execution upon the pipe-clay they were turned off, and eleven men, work with their picks. They had been at work but a short time when the man who is stationed near the pipes to look out for caves, gave the alarm, and the men attempted to escape, all succeeding in getting out but three. A man working near the spot says that the huge mass of clay slid dewn from its place in. the bank, striking at the feet of John . Dunn, and rolling over him, producing instant death. A little further ‘down W. 8B, Cargay and s Chinaman were, buried out of sight. Two men who witnessed the accident from the ‘Dank. came to town, and a large number of people were soon on their way to the} scene of the accident.
