Newspaper Removal.
Frink & Hayden of the Grass Val‘yey Republican “have concluded to
move immediately to the. town pf
Trackee, where .they will issue the
“Pruckee Republican tri-weekly. The
paper will be enlarged four columns
and will be furnished to subscribers
at one bit-a week, or $6 per annum,
‘We understand that the Republican
since its publication in Grass Valley
has received fair encouragement,. bat
the proprietors think Truckee will
afford a better and an unoccupied.
field for newspaper -enterprise and
have therefor determined to go there.
Truckee is plenty large enough to
gustain a first rate newspaper, and
Messrs. Frink & Hayden ‘will. make
a paper of which the citizens of that
section of the county, may well be
proud to know that after the Truckee
Republican appears, it will be among
the most interesting of our exchanges.
We shall envy Frink when he gets to
writing about the big fish, the big
lakes, and the big saw mills and subsists on Sierra valley beef and buttet. Weshall look for an occasional
trout wrapped up in the Truckee Tepublican. The last number of the
Grass Valley Republican will be issued

errible Affray at Grass Valley.
On Sunday -afternoon, at Grass
Valley, a terrible affray occurred at
a boarding louse kept by Matthew
Rogers, on Main street, and Peter
Daws one of the boarders. It is reported that jealousy was the cause of
the affray. Both parties had been
drinking freely, and there are several
_yersions as to the origin of the difficulty. The row occurred in the
kitchen,and during the scuffle. Rogers
was struck by Daws with a pick.
The point of the pick entered below
the left shoulder and passed into the
lungs several inches. The wounded
man ran through the house before
he knew he was struck, andhe fell
in the yard. His injuries are so severe that it is thought he cannot recover.
