The neighboring towns of Forio, Lacco and Fario were greatly damaged, It is impossible to give the nuinber of the dead at Casamicciola. In the latest accounts the number is 3,000.. Ischia aaeeao is an island in the Mediterranean: aS belonging to Naples, eight miles : southwest of Cape Miseno, fron which it is separated by a channel six miles acrovs. It is seven miles long and four miles broad; area. twenty-six square miles, Near. its Epomo, from which the su: face yrad‘wally slopes in all directions toward "the sea, The soil is very fertile, producing great quantities of superio wine, with fis, corn and game.
