The Cenvention To-day.
The Republican County Conven‘tion will meet in this city to-day. It

Republicans can profit by if wisdom

was declared the” unanimous nominee of the Convention.
The following’ resolution was effered by J.B. Johnson, whieh, after
ene or two objections, was unanimously adopted:
Resolved, That we most heartily
endorse theHonorable Newton Booth,
our Senator in Corfgress; that we
recognize in him a Statesman of lofty
patriotism; .abold and fearless advocate and defender of the rights of
the people;. a man of unimpeachable honesty and integrity, anc whose
moral character is above reproach.
County Judge—J. B. Johnson was
placed in nomination for the office of
County Judge and was nominated by
insubordination to parentalauthority, which is so marked among too
many boys of this, and almost every
city of Cal., police courts and courty
jails, will soon have their business
doubled and the taxes for the keeping of idle criminals greatly increused. I am well aware that there are
many parents who care nothing of
what their children are doing or
where they are, so long as they are
out of their way. To such parents
