A brillant meteor was ‘observed vo
a number of our citizens on Monday
evening last. It was first observed
in the zenith, was about four inches
in diameter,-and had a brilliant
white light. Its course was towards the north, and it disappeared . .
over Sugar Loaf hill, in the shape of
a hnge pear.
There are now nine prisoners in
the county jail. Four are held for
trial.or examination upon felonies,
and five are _Serving out terms for
