x will be additions made to the force is not capable of crushing the ore as fast as it can be taken out. It is quite likely that more stamps will be edded to the mill during the coming fall. There are about sixty men employed by the company, and there new ground is opened up. \There is enough ore now devel” oped to keep the mine in operation many years to come. There is a big quantity of ground in the claim that has not yet been penetrated, but it is morally certain to be very productive when the company getintoit.ce On ne No Cause for Alarm, The San Juan Times of yester-, day says: ° r ‘“‘We understand that some of the Republican would-be bosses at Nevada City are trying to cook up a scheme by which the county delegation to the State convention shall be a unit for Hartson for Governor.’’ We think the editor of the Times has been misinformed as to this matter. So far as can be learned, there is no sentiment at Nevada City favoring Mr. Hartson. The great majority of our citizens endorse John F. Swift, believing. that he will make the strongest candidate, Charles F. Reed also has a number of snpporters. There is not any inclination publicly displayed to send delegates pledged to any of these gentlemen, however. What our voters want as a rule is for the ‘Nevada county representatives to go tothe State Convention prepared to give their support to the one who is likely to prove the most popular standard bearer thatthe party can get. A Woman’s Will. The will of Lucy Dow, deceased, was. yesterday admitted to probate and Gilman Wright was appointed executor with bonds fixed at $3,000. The estate consists of two houses and a lot at Grass Valley valued at $1,500. Mrs, Dow directed in her will that the property be sold and the proceeds afier the expenses of her last sickness and burial be paid be divided between her { brothers, Amasa Estey of Thornton’s Ferry, New Hampshire, and Oliver Estey whose residence is not given. Standing Offthe Weather. There was a comparatively small crowd at the mid-summer party given at the Dancing Acad. emy Friday evening, but all who went hada splendid time. The Jadies in their lawn and calico dresses looked angelic, while the “gentlemen with their long-tailed dusters sailed around as graceful‘dy-as-somany balloons.
