‘“‘We understand that some of
the Republican would-be bosses
at Nevada City are trying to cook
up a scheme by which the county
delegation to the State convention
shall be a unit for Hartson for
Governor.’’
We think the editor of the
Times has been misinformed as
to this matter. So far as can be
learned, there is no sentiment at
Nevada City favoring Mr. Hartson. The great majority of our citizens endorse John F. Swift, believing. that he will make the
strongest candidate, Charles F.
Reed also has a number of snpporters. There is not any inclination publicly displayed to send
delegates pledged to any of these
gentlemen, however. What our
voters want as a rule is for the
‘Nevada county representatives to
go tothe State Convention prepared to give their support to the
one who is likely to prove the
most popular standard bearer
thatthe party can get.
