entirely by water power. Friday the
small Pelton wheel was placed in

and it works toa charm. This puts
the entire works on top: under the

that the drift and backs in the 12evel are looking very well indeed,
the rock being plenty and bearing

they will improve as they are pushed

The Empire mine is doing well;
the rock, much of it, is rich in speci:
Hmens, and the general quality is more
‘than the average milling rock. The
vompany is now making arrangenents for re-modelingthe mill, and
the preliminary work has already
neen begun, ' ‘The. mill will be
most, if not entirely new, when
the work is finished. The Empire
is the oldest worked mine in the district, and the present-owners think
that they have just commenced to
spen it up.
We took a trip to the GreeleyBlackman mine,in company with Superintendent Hooper. The tunnel of
he old West Idaho has been cleanout and put in perfect order, A
sross-cut hasbeen driven 40 feet

face of the drift, The tunnel is now
n about 600 feet and the miners are
iriving the east. cross-cut on the
ledge. Some good ore was brought
to town and exhibited at W. K.
Spencer’s store, ‘The ore is considsred to be of good milling quality,
ind as the cross-cut proceeds west
vhe rock improves,
The Imperial company have. been
very busy in cleaning up their tunnel and have about finished thattask.
Che annual meeting of the company
will be held on the 20th of this

/hat the shaft will be put down farther. :

The Queen Bee Company. have
been driving their tunnel for the
past month and have struck a good

some very rich quartz, but the mine
has been idle a number of years, for
the reason that the owners were not
prepared to develop it. A. D. West
