The Nevada County compaiies _will ave their parade and target excarsion on Moniay. the 20th. The Nevada Light Guard has accepted an invitation from the Grass Valley Union Gaard, to participate in. the inaugurativn of the new hall of the latter cowpany, on thet day. IMPROVEMENT.—Charley Smith, of the Exchange Hotel, Grass Valley, is adding twenty-two commod ivus roums to his house fur the accommodation of the increasing travel. The addition will e~ in the shape of an L, two:stories high. The entrauce to the reoms will be frum a veranda, and the apartments will be large and well ventilated. Heavy Lusers. —Combs & McGoun are among the hewviest losers by the Red Dog fire. They had but recently fitted up a new place uf business, and had on band a very large stock of goods. The property was vply issured t» a swall amount and the loss ewes heavy upon the firm. They are excelleat geutiemer, and as honest as God ever made. We hope they may be able. to ovme out all right in the end. House Warmtxa.—Moses Korn. is putting up a fine brick buildiug on Maia street, Grase Valley, and on the 31st instant he . . proposes to give a grand house warming. REBVILDING.—A number of houses at Red Dog will be immediately rebuilt, and in a few moothe all traces of the disastrous fire will be gone, Already arrangements ace being made for the erection of a neat hotel. One of the heaviest losers said yesterday: “In three months Red Dog will be as good a town as it ever was,’ and we beliewe it. Ricn Rock. We w were shown by E. F. Bean some splendid quartz from the Mari. ¢tts ledge, recently discovered at Diamond Creek, near Omega. It was filled with coarse free guid. This ledge is the leading top ie among prospectors st present. Ricn CemenT.—We saw at the assay office af J. J. Ott, yesterday, some rich cement from the claims of Fuller & Co., at Hunt's Hill. From a piece weighing ten ounces Mr. Ott got 55 cents in gold. BITTEN BY A SPiver.—Mr. Briggs, of thie city, was bitten by a black spider on Wednesday last. He suffered intense agony during the night but was able to be up yesterday morning. Reiger ror THe Surrercas —Yesterday Judge Niles and J. C. Garber raised about $400 io an hour, among the citizens of. Nevada, for the relief of the sufferers by the Red Dog fire.
