Robert Filkins, agent for 4-paw’s
(as it is pronounced) circas; menagerie and mnseam, culled on us ‘yonterday. He informs us that the
whole show will arrive in this city on
the 3istinst. It will be complete,
and not as many may think, a part
of the great uzgregation show. The
people will have an opportunity of
seeing what it is made up of by the
street parade; which will consist ot
fifty wagons, containing animals of
every kind. It isthe biggest show
in the world, The stieet parade will.
take place at about 9 o’clock in the
morning, and all who desire to see it
must be on hand at that time. The
agent has contracted for 11 care of
the Narrow Gauge Ruilroad Co.,
which will bring only the tent, baggage, &c. The cages and other wag‘ons will come up over the toll read,
and are drawn by 125 horses and 8
“mules. It requires 32 cars of. the
Central Pacific to convey the show
from Omaha to Colfax. The following is a list of the managers of
the various departments: Sole pro-.

manager, John A. Forepaugh; l'reasurer, Ben. Lusbie; R:ilroad contractor, Geo. Brouson; Generel advertiser, J. J. Showles; Directof of publication, Rvubert Filkins; Contractor,

. Adevil,in human form, set fire
to the woods on the Colfax road near
Ismert’s ranch, on Wednesday last,
The fire spread to a Jarye lot of hay
owned by Mrs. Ismert,and destroyed
all of it. By herculean work on the
part of men who reside on Gold Flat,
several residences there were saved
from déstruction. ‘In nearly all of
‘our country exchanges we notice accounts of fires raging in the woods—
in nearly‘every part uf the State—all
being the acts of incendiaries. A
little tight rope would be very appropriate for the fellows who etart
these fires.

A prisoner at the county jail, was
yesterday allowed to go out in the
Court House yard for the purpose of
getting a little exercise. He thought
the yard was a little to small for
that purpose, and took a walk down
town for the purpose of giving that
place a “wide berth” in the future,

on the alert for evil doers, went in
search of his man, and found him.
