Fatal Actident.
Thomas Fant, a.teamster, whose resi lence ‘wasat French Corral,met with a .
shocking death on Wednesday after
noon, while om. his way from Cherokee to North San Juan. On arriving
atthe brow of the long hill between
the two places, his horses from. some
cause took fright and rin away, and
Mr. Fant was found soon after at the
foot of the hill, mangled in a most
shocking manner. His, skull was fractured, nearly all his ribs were broken,
also his backbone and one of his legs.
He was alive when found. but insensi
dle, and died in about an hour. It is
not known precisely how the accident
oceurred, as no one was with him ; but
it is supposed he was thrown from the
wagon, and caught by the lines or in
some other in manner, and dragged to
the foot of the hill, a distance ot near
halfamile, Mr. Fant was about 63
years old, and leavesa wife at French
Corsa, bat no children.
