The Boot Thieves.
The Mongolians who burglarized
K. Casper’s store of-a lot of boots
several months ayo, and were found
guilty of burgiary in the first. degree yesterday; are ‘tough looking
customers even for Chinamen. J.T.
Lewis, Esq., who acted as their attorney, says he spent. several hours
looking for evidence in their favor,
but all of their fellow-countrymen
pretended not to know them and by
‘various hints gave the lawyer to une
erstand that they were bad charac‘ters and ought to be convicted. Fitteen pairs of the boots stolen by
them have never been recovered, and
probably never will be.

The Seventh Day Adventist missionaries immersed four converts ia
