Everything that does not suit the whims of that sheet ie'charged upon Mr. Sargent. Faleehued and. mistepresentation are its strong suit. The Gazette, of yesterday, contains a batch of the most contemptible falsehoods ever given to the public. That paper says . . the list of precincts was given tq the TRANSCRIPT on Thursday, in ample tithe to “set itup” and publish it in Friday’s issue and intimates the cause of its not appearing was that Mr. Sargent had no time to examine it and suggest such changes as might suit his caprice. Two more diabolical falsehoods were never penned. In the first place the copy was not given to us in time for. Fri,Way’s izsue, and secondly, the President of the Bourd of Supervisors gave orders not to ablish it until Saturday morning. Neither r. Sargent or any other man, except these employed in the office, saw the list until it Was given to our re. ts” We hive received & communication . from Wm. J.
