Editor Transcript: In your issue
of the 19th, I saw an article headed
The facts areas follows: On Friday
last I stopped at the door of the Oriental mill, and observed Mr. Murchie andMr. Jas. Kitts in conversalooking at them, I saw Mr. Murchie
raise his long handled shovel as if to
strike Mr. Kitts; when Mr. Kitts shot
out his left hand and struck Mr.
Murchie in the face which staggered
him; then striking him very, quick
with his right hand, knocked him
down, jumped upon him, and strnek
him three more times with his hands,
veforeL could get to him. I then
pulled him off of Murchie, and in so
doing he threw me down, but I still
held him, until his brother ran and
caught him and told him not to strike
Murchie any more, that he was
whipped bad enough. Mr. Kitts
then walked to his house, and returning immediately, asked me to go
up to his house and get Mr. Murchie a glass of wine, which I did,
and after Geo. Kitts and myself had
washed him, I gave him the wine
which he drank. He them called Mr.
Kitts aud wanted to know the cause
of the difficulty.__Mr. Kitts said to .
him that they had got to talking over
the land decision, and he, Murchie,
undertook to strike him, Kitts, with
the shovel, and that he unthoughtedly struck him with his fist and
knocked him, Marchie, down, and
that he was-very sorry the necessity
for such a thing had happened, and
regretted to see him in the condition
and Mr. Marchie got up and walked .
up the road quite a distance in company with Jacob Bachtal, and soon
walked back over to his own mi!, apparently as if nothing had happrned.

made an excellent impression on his
hearers. The Nevada Band, of this
city, was in attendance and enlivened the meeting with some excellent
music. The meeting closed ata late
hour with rousing cheers for the speakers and the Republican nominees.
