my name mentioned. I know that
writing in this way is céwardly, but
I hate to see a man that I have looked on as a friend, fooled and duped
by those ring leaders. You are not
some of your friends opinions, as
there Was a great many who seemed
to think that even if you did take
the womination, that Bigelow was
Dok enough to Wtive his name
peddled around the country to get
such an ignominious defeat as you
will be sure to get if yourun. You

hands; stick by the-old party, and
instead of losing friends and business, you will double beth. I will
have to stop here. I did intend: to

Hoping that you maysee your error
in time to help instead of putting
down the old party, I subscribe myself, your *WELL WIsHER,.
Ep, TranscrieT: In regard to the

will reply, that if it buly concernedmyself, no notice would be taken of.
it; but there is a principle involved,
as old ag our Government, which so
our Independent movement that it is
well to give it» little notice I had
somehow got the impression that every American citizen had a birthright inheritance, which consisted
of the PRIVILEGE and RESPONSIBILITY
of using bis own brains, if_he> has
apy,in selecting his politics or religion, and I am sure that the old fogies. who framed our Constitution,
jntelided that froedum of ‘Soihion in]
such m-tters shguld be the corner
stone of the grand old structure,-the
monument to wisdom, that we hope
and believe will endure to the end
of time. As regardsthe loss of business, it is enough to say that I
never begged anyone’s trade, or
courted anyone’s friendship, and
have always had friends and all the
‘business I wanted to attend to.
Respectfully yours,
