McKEBR: it asamegensnaiinresnemncmsneeinres esondentsremior one recter tenes Our Couwry.—The reports from our cans -Waasera are allconfirmatory of each other and to the effect that Nevada county is all one : Way; andl that way the tight way. The sentiment of our people is overwhelmingly loyny ae-it has boon since the first speck of a war cloud arose on the Southern horizon. Our peapleerit! given better report of themeeives than ever before. Every old staunch Union man da firmer than ever—firm as the tock of our mountains—and. others who have not seed their own conduct in a proper light un. ti lately, are joining our ranks and swelling the victorious columa:. The Union men of . the county will do their whole duty on Wedneaday next—be ature of that. Watt, Dibble aad Findley will be laid out in the culd, a¢ eure as the sun rises on the morning of the second of September. ‘Chere will-be ne barter among true Uniun mei but every one of them will vote'for none but those who sus. tain the Adminiatration of Abraham Lincoln, aa the only policy for patriets to adopt: = The majority in the county ia pbing'to be lange. Copperheads are noisy as they alwaye are, but it is, “woe et pretefea nihil,” or, ‘gteat ory and little wool,” as the devil said when he sheared the hog. They make up in noiao, like coyotes, what they want in numbers. But, sute ad our sticcess is in -the county, it is of the gtoatest importance that every votet of the Union ticket cnme to the polls. We intist show the miserable ~~. Gopperheads how weak, bow lbsignificant Wi.t ao TooceTHER.—Phe Democrats aay the State will go the same way Kentuc‘Know Nothing antecedents. His argument . millions of négroes, who are to be distribux , . ted through all the States to come in com~ . tte was put to work to demonstrate how ‘. port. township, The demonstration.was sv completo that it was sece rtained Irishmen one’ dollar, and the black Republicans, lov. Democrats employed them ! 4 ‘much there was when he went out, after 4 ponies Ae aisore were required, we n to for a time at public expense, and who has out of the woods. . the seed of the Yerba de flecha whith grows Correrueap Tacrics.—Some of our copperhead fuglemen in their perambulationg about the county have resorted to a species of tactics, which were expected to avail the secession allies considerably, Dibble makes his appeal direetly to Irishmen, and it is thought they place the most implicit reliance on what he says.on.,aeéount of his at French Corral wus after this sort: The Administration is carrying on an expensive war for the sole object of liberating five. petition with Irish labor. -He made a cumputation showing how many negroes would be California’s quota, and then his arithmemany negrucs would be the quota of Bridgewould have their wages docked from twe and ahalf and three. dollars a day down to ing negroes the best, they would always ew. ploy them, and Irishmen would get no ems ployment and would starve to death unless This is about the sum and substance of Dibble’s argument to the Irish. What a pretty intelligent set they must be, if they will tolerate such stuf! The Insh ought to drive him from the stand with a dozen sbillalies for insulting them with such nonsense. Tom Findley is about, attempting to show the bad financial management of the present State administration! A Chinaman with a rooster in his pocket moralizing on the sin of robbing hen roosts, would be a parallel spectacle. If Tom will tell the people how. much money there was in the State Treas» ury when he became Treasurer, and. how four years of service, and bow much was added to the-State during that time, when no will publish it, and‘thereby he may contribute tu enlighten the public upon a part of the financial history of the State which now presents a very badappenaance. Let's have the figures,—make figures, Tom, and quit your platitudes. FE Sa, Bap AUTHORITY.—The Grase Valley off half cocked on a libel against a gentleman. We regret it. Hereafter, fellows of the National, be careful and not-put tuo much reliance on the statements of a scoundre! who was kept aboard the prison brig at Sacramencontioued his career by robbing negroes and hen-roosts. Don't holler man, till you get — SoMeTHING New, ASPiRITvAL SEED.-The local of the S. F. Republic, has had in his tand an animated seed of a tree, that is endowed with powers of locomotion. It is in the northern part of Mexico. The seed jumps about for several minutes. The exs traordinary phenomenon is supposed to be accounted foron the supposition. that the aéed is naturally charged with electricity sufficient to keep it a bobbing fur a while. 9 THE prarr.—It is ascertained that the conscription actis not tobe enforced for the the present ia California. The object of dividing the State into enrollment districts is to avcertain what number of fighting men there are in the stats to obtain soldiers from and to be prepared tor a foreign war if it should come: There will be no dtafting dove until the neGeasity for it arrives, which is Hot yet. ‘ oN early copy of the Union yesterday. The news from the East is unimportant. It 1 Sumter is desttoyed; Charleston has been and our sblillets are going to tiké Wagner. “AnEnglish steamer loaded with votton. tubaceo and turpentine bas beet captured . running-the blockade: The exasperation of Union meh in Missouri against secesh knows no bonds. The Butternits are suffering terribly in ence: Many have been killed dnd the region infested with them is doomed to desolation and depopulation. are powerlul strong.” Prat: meetings lately, as he hurried away holding his nose, and swearing there was something dead and rotten around somewhere. The a4 bs ” ait onl os National, has taken bad authority and gone . Eastern News.—MecCue gare ws an} confirmatory of previous reports concernisg . . our dpefations before Charlestoti, mostly — . shelled, the rebels in the town skedaddled,. ™ A Srirnaine Sient in Harrispurc.—A correspondent of the N. Y. Times. who was at Harrisburg, Penn., doring the peril of that city, concludes'a letter from there with the following : Thad written thus far when I heard the noise of drum and fife, and looking out of my marching up the street, behind an old and tattered silk flag. I went out and followed them.. They were all soldiers: of the war 1812. The flag they bore was in the battle of Trenton, in 1778. They were members of the Soldiers Association of 1812, of Harrisburg, and went-in a body to tender their services tu the Governor, It was an inspiring sight. They were mostly hale, hearty old men, a little feeble and tottering in their walk, but far from ‘having lost their energy or patriotism. They kept perfect’ step to the music, and marched up to the Governor’s where the Captain, in a few appropriate words, announced that they were ready to go'into. the. trenches and fight, and would go further if required. Not one of these men is less than68 years of age, and the oldést .is79. There is an example for young men who are so afraid of their precious bones. These veterans were londly cheered. No one needed to ask who they were. The sto-~ ry was written in the tattered ensign and gray heads. It was curious tu see them maneuver. They marched in single file out of the Governor’s room, Whemthey got on the ground, the order. was given, "Left face” —not front as now. The next order was, ‘By sections of two, on your left wheel.” Turning a coroer, it was right orleft wheel not file. The old boys came up to the:mark like Keeung ones, and carried us back to the old times. As they halted in front of their reu~ dezvous, a number of soldiers gathered around, and one of them said, with manly indignation, “Pretty hard on you, old cucks,’ (irreverent, but forcible,) ‘to have to come out. This ————~ neighborhood bas sent sixty men, and here are sixteen old ones.” These old patriots are to be armed with the old fliot lock muskets, they will “do or dee.”’ you may be sure. It may be interesting to sity that thirteen are Republicans, and three Democrats. , VIRGINIA Fine.—The losses in :Virgima city by the fire of Friday are estimated at from $300,000 to $500,000. CLOsING.—The banking houses of San Francisco have agreed ty close up on election day. : . ceemmmnennemnneemens ne) ARRIVALS AT NATIONAL EXCHANGE. _ Broad Streets Nevada, HASEY & MAYBERRY Proprietors. .
