Reuben Phillips, who wason the jury of
inquest, we gather the following particulars: About eight o’clock in the morning,
young Bonney went to the barn for the .
purpose, ashe stated, of fixing a door.
Some time after, perhaps about an hour,
the report of a gun was heard at the house ;
but ag there is considerable hunting in the
neighborhood, nothing was thoughé.of . the
circumstance. Towards evening, the
young man not returning, s search was instituted, when his body was found ‘by ‘his
younger brother, lying in the harness room,
with the top of his head nearly shot off,and
a doubled barreled shot gun, with the left
barrel discharged, lying across his ‘breast.
Justice Ayres was immediately sent for at
Columbia Hill, and held:an inquest on the
body. It appears that there was a cupboard
in the harness room in which two guns were
ordinarily kept, the size of the room being
about eight by tem feet. From all appearances and the circumstatices brought to
light, it was concluded that after repairing
the barn door, Bonney had concluded to
go out gunning, and went to the cupboard
ior the shot gun, and that in taking it out
the hammer caught.and the gun discharged.
‘The entire ¢ e took effect in his forehead, fust dbove the ¢yés, and mangled his

has offered a reward of $200 for the appremurderer of her husband. The murder
was committed at Frenchtown, near the
Oregon Hoiise, Yuba county, and the murderer is supposed to have come into Nevada county. It appears that George and
Espanola had been partners, and sometime
since had a dispute about water. On the
ist instang while George was in his garden
with his wife, Espanola came up within
‘three or four feet of him, armed with a
