The gains of the Daion party are large, , and the supporters of Grant and Colfax are enthusiastic, The county will roll up a large majority for the Unioa ticket. Every party meaeare during the campaign has increased the strength of the organization, and wen favor with the people. The late ‘State and Coagressional Conventions have ees, us first rate tickets, and “ party with a confi d unity waknb » the war: Wie INsaxx.—Catharine Leaky a resident of French Corral, and a aative of Ireland, aged 27, was yesterday examined by Drs. Hust and Tiling, and ordered to Stockton upon the charge of insanity. She hasa brother in Stockton who ‘was sent from this county seyeral months ago. She was brought to this city and placed under treatment, but refused to take medicine and her derangement increased 80 much that it was deemed advisuble to send her to the Asylum, CHARGED WITH Horse STEALING,— Isanc Killian and Jacob M: James were ~ yesterday brought dowa from Trukee, _ by Constable Teeter, aad lodged in thé county jail, to await the examination of the Grand Jury upon the charge of horse stealing. The parties went to <Grant’s Station, at the foot of ‘Donner lake, on the night of August Ist entered a corral, and were leading away two horses when they were captured. They were taken before Judge Sykes, examined upon the YBa and com-nitted asabove stated.. --THe WEATHER.—The present“heated _ term” is enough to sweat all the energy out Of any community. Mrntne Macutnery.—There is now considerable activity in mining inatters throughout the county. Machinery is being fitted up on a number of claims, and in others the capacity of machinery 18 beimg increased. During the past ne week a number of teams have passed ‘vhroagh town loaded with material for mills and machinery in other parts of _ thety and some new works are being put up im this township. Tas Mawr Th meeting of the Union Club last evening was largely attended ‘and wery enthusiastic. We will in our next issue more fully report the proveedings.
