AFortnight's V acation,— The City Board of Education held aspecial meeting last evening to provide for closing the sehdols on the 17th instant for a vacation of two weeks’ duration. The law provides thatthe time of closing be on the Friday preceding Christmas, but as Christmas falls on Saturday this year, and the children ‘will not be able te entertain thought of much else than Santa Claus and the holiday festivities for several days’ prior to that auspicious time, the Board think there is no use in keep‘ing them ata labor in which they. would display .so little interest.
