A SHARP and unscrupulous journalist aucceeded the other day in palming off upon the New York press a
bogus story abent the ‘Benevolent
and Protective Brotherhood of Chinese” holding a meeting and passing
a atring of resolutions. Subsequent
inquiry revealed the fact that the
whole thing was a fabrication, and
that the Chinese reporter was sim:
ply following the reprehensible example of some American newspapers
-notably the San Francisco Chronicle—in drawing upon imagination
instead of dealing in facts.
