_The Union says: The bridge over
Bear River, on ‘the lower Colfax
road, has been closed by the prgprietor, Mr, Taylor, as he does not con=7

have been posted-to—that effect.
This cats off all bridge communication with P acer county, except by

Rat Kittrye sy aN Expert.—
Last evening there arrived in our
city, Thomas Fu lerton,; a young gentleman from-New Y ork, who is a
“wat exterminator.” He was brought
here by James _H. Loh of the St.
Clair Hotel, at the suggestion of several gentlemen whose business houscs
are infested by rodents, and the first
oe hewent to work up was: the
St. Clair‘Hotel. Armed with a paix
of small tongs, he, about nine o'clock
last nighvf started around the hotel
and with a peculiar squeak near a rat
hole, induced a fat rodent _to
come within reach of the tongs. He
crushed the head of the rat, and
dropped him, slayed another, which
appeared to answer his call in rapid
succession. —At—one—v’clock this
morning he quit work, and a count
disclosed the fact that 120 rats had
been slain, He expects to rid the
St. Clair of the pests in three nights.
There was considerable excitemept
about the hotel while the wholesale
destruction was going on and the method of operation occasioned the liveliest comment. Fullerton is quite -a
young mgn, but has had cansiderable experience in the business. On
one occasion he killed an immense
number in a New York hotel, and
two or three c4ys afterwards he was
notified that he had missed two. He
returned to the hotel apd captured
them, singe which tine tl.ere has
not been @ rat in the hotel.. Fullerton will have his headquarters at the
St. Clair Hotel.—Pittsburg Chronicle.
