Ballread Meeting.
This afternoon a meeting will be
held to further consider the project of
a railroad between Nevada and Grass 4
Valley and some: point on the lines of
travel. At the last meeting Commit-.
tees Were appoitited to ascertain what
amount would be contributed in ‘the
two towns for preliminary surveys, and
it was also determined to appoint to.
day a Committee of five to make investigations and collect statistics as to the
several routes suggested. “We hope
the meeting this afternoon will be fully
represented by the railroad advocates.
Concert To-night, %
The complimentary : benefit tendered
by our citizens to Mile. Cecile and
Mons. Bonnet, will take place this evening at Temperance Hall. The Con.
cert will conclude with a Social Dance,
We hope our citizens will turn out in
fulk force and give Mile. Cecile and
Mons. Bonnet a handsome benefit. One
ot the attractions of the evening will
be the singing of the Marseillaise by
Mons, Bonnet, for which he is said to
have no equal in the State.
Business Changes.
John Harst & Co. have bought out
Julius Dreyfuss’ Bakery and the
New York and U. 8, Bakeries have
consolidated.’ Hereafter the business
will be done at the New York Bakery,
The wagon will supply families every
morning with bread’ warm from the
oven. All sorts of cakes, pies, etc. kept
Commercial street. See their adver~
tisement in to-day’s paper.
Death of Harry Roberts.
D. E. Bell, of this city, yesterday received a telegram announcing the
death of Harry Roberts, of Grass Valafternoon, Harry was 24 yearsof age,
a young man of fine abilities, gentle
dispusition and highly respected by all
who knew him. He died of leanstin
fever,

New Business Houses.
Within a few days past a number of
new business establishments have been
opened in this city. We have new
toy, grocery and dry goods stores opened, and business places as well as residences are in demand. © Stores that
have not been occupied for five or six
years have been rented. within the past
month. Business is looking up and
times are getting better.
New Livery Firm.
Julius Dreyfuss and Pat. McKininey
have started in the livery business at
the Union Stables on Main street.
They will have new buggies, wagons
and stock, and will setae horses and
