Who is to Blame?
The recent ~
McCormick,
gests the querry, who is io blame
fer-the accident, and fer his death;
should it'result ‘from the accident?
The shaft_he fell_into—if_ it it_is the
one we think it is—is directly in the
middie of the highway, and the beaten track gées within two or three
feet of the edge. The hole is large
encugh to let two or threé*horses
into it, and yet. not ‘an, post or any
thing ix placed around. We passed
the place the morkiny before the Dr.
met his accident,
that there a person was liable-tg. fall
or Griveinto it in a dark night.
‘Now the question is,-who is resp¥isible? ‘Can such a man-trap exist on .
the highway ‘end no one be held to
accountability? There are hundreds
of places in, the county nearly as
dangerous. After it is discovered
a responsibility rests some where,
they will be looked to, we presume,
and not before. ‘The loss of such a
manas Dr. MeCormiek will elicit
some inquiry, as ‘to whether such
places are allowed to exist right in
highway.
