Sierra County.
The writer fetarned last week
frotn several days’ stay in Sierra
county. He fougd the mining in~ dustry there growing rapidly. _Thé
Bald Mountain drift mine continues
to produce heavily, Thé main tunne isnow in about a mile and a
_ half, aud anew tunnel to open up
_ deposits along the line‘near the ex1,400 feet from the entrance. This
company general y employ 150 men,
although but two-thirds of that number are at work just now as the
dumps are all fall of gravel and there
has been no water “for, washing, till
