The Board met according to law, all C. E. Mulloy, chairman, presided: The minutes of April 14th, 1888, were read and approved. The report of J. A. Millhone, road wpproved and placed on file. The following demiands for labor and material were allowed from the funds of district No. d: J. A. Millhone $1001.52, Legg & Shaw $13.75. The following bids for raising the roof of the County Hospital were received: Cook & Abbott $410, R. Bell & Co. $535, Onstott & Hoskins $476.The contract was awarded to Abbott & Cook. : C.E. Mulley and W. D. Woods were appointed us a committee to inspect the work and contract on the Hospital. Ordered that the Auditor draw his warrant.on the General Fund for the contract price when the work is accepted by the committee. The quarterly report of the Auditor and Treasurer were read, adopted and ordered placed on file. The following demands on the General Fund were allowed: B. N. Shoecraft, jury scrip, $765.50. He pushed so hard that he actually pushed’ the horse out of the shafts. It gave a few farewell kicks, demolishing the buggy’s dashboard, then ran home as fast asitcould. One of the young ladies had a foot caught between the spokes of a Wheel during the excitement, but was not hurt. a. soates Fire at Truckee. At three o’clock last Saturday morning a disastrous fire occurred at Truckee. It started near the Republican office. A fierce battle prevented the flames from sweeping Front street and the business part of the town. The losses are as follows: Grazier & Stoll, brewery, $8,000, insured for $4,000 in the Girard, Firemen’s and Continental; Mrs. E, A. Keiser, printing office and contents, $3,000, insured for $2,000 in the Sun; A. C. Cooke, blacksmith shop and residence, $3,000, insured in the Phoenix of London for $1,100 ;jengine house, value $1,000, no insurance; James W. Bigham’s residence, damaged $200, fully insured. The fire spread so rapidly that little property was saved. eens A Democratic Endorsement. Grass Valley Union: ‘‘The TRANscripT eays that I. J. Rolfe is spoken of as a-candidate for the Assembly on the Republican ticket. I. J.
