afew days ago in-the Rocky Bar
mine at about.a depth of 115 feet.
tock has been taken ‘from it that
shows splendidly in free gold and
sulphurets, Good judges ,estimate
that the rock will go above $100 per

been time te open the ledge sufficientuly to demonstrate the extent of this

‘The main ledge is found at the depth
1s ~aphene: for that district.
above stated, about 115 feet, after
cutting through two, upper ledges.
At this depth it lays nearly flat, but
at the old shaft it showed a ‘south
pitch, and upon this pitch an incline
was swak several hundred feet; ~but
the ledge did not ‘‘make’’.as was anticipated, and it was determined to
put down a perpendicular shaft to
the north of the hoisting works, on
the theory that the ledge had also a
noth-dip—that is, that the ledge was
lying in the earth something in the
shape of a saddle-back, and pitched .
each way from its crown, at say, 115
feet deep, but to the north and sonth.
The finding of the ledge in the new
shaft seems to confirm this theory,as
although yet flat, it has a tendency to
dip north, and it is in that direction,
it is beliey ed, that the permanent
workings of the mine will be carried
vn in the future.
