Association, in discussing the amenities of the press, says the Oakland
Transcript, makes use of the following sensible remarks: ‘He would
allow the widest and severest criticisms of editorials, but no contemptuous allusions to the editor or his

cotem porary a knave and he retorting by ‘calling the other a fool, thé
community soon begin to believe
both of them tell the truth!’ We
recommend these remarks to a few
