All parents, whether their children are members.of the schools or not, are invited to ‘unite on this occasion, and parents are also requested tosee that their little ones are pro~ vided for.We are requested to state “that a committee will be’on hand at the Chureh all day Saturday, for the purpose of -receiving presents designed for the ehildr and » they would like to have them all in by noon on that day. The-exercises will commence at half past 7 o'clock. The little fotks ~-thticipate a splendid time, @ad they will not be disappointed. ~ i eemeeerenee THE PENNSYLY¥ANIA CoM PANY.—The new quartz mill to be erected at Coy oteville, noticed by us last week, is to be built for the purpose of crashigg rock taken from the lead of the Pennsylvania Quartz Mining Company. Itisto be a steam ‘mill, and will cost $6,000 instead of $3,200. The lead owned by this company has been worked for some time, and the rock taken out was crushed at custom mills, always, paying well. The last lot crushed was 74 ons, and it paid $45 per ton. The ledge is now 19 inches in thickness, easily worked, and it is continually getting better. The Pennsylvania elaims are supposed to be on the same ledge as the Gold Tunnel Co.'s, and wmany others, Though broken in maiy _ Places it can be traced from the ridge a mile below town to Selby Flat, a distanee of about three miles. The Pennsylvania mill will be 4 permanent, paying institution when eompleted. , _ CoLp SNap.—The cold nights and mornings of the past few days have almost made us doubt that we hve:-inemild climate.— Thewwaterfroze in the pipes and a large number of these burst. A large number of prisoners, and forty-seven guns were captured. Thom-. as was still in pursuit of the flying rebels. THE report that the Stockton steamer had blown up, turns out to be a canard.
