Spencer, Henry B, Storey, Artemus Taylor, Wah Lung, Joseph Quick. Registered letter—John A, Rowe. Trouble at the Eureka Mine— Hands Discharged. Yesterday morning at seven o’clock, when the “shifts” were changed at the Eureka. mine, and the underground miners started for the top they hada keg of specimens which had been taken out. In order to get away with their booty they knocked down the watchman, and made for the top of the shaft. The alarm in some way was given and they did not get the keg out. Our informant learned that the underground works were immediately stopped and all the miners discharged. Lately the Eureka has. been yielding very rich rock and a large amount could be carried off in a keg. We learn that every effort is being made to ascertain the parties connected with the attempt at robbery. Don’t Forget It. Don’t forget to look over Spencer & P ttison’s advertisement this morning. Joln Senner has opened a candy and fruit stand in the Theatre where purchasers will be supplied with good things during the exhibition and drawing of the Cosmopolitan Fair. Candies, fruit, etc. are sold at reasonable prices and in any quantity desired by parchasers. Those visiting the Fair will find the stand a good place to buy. Lecture This Evening. Dr. Barlow J. Smith, proprietor of the Hygeian Home Water Cure -and Phrenological Institute of San Francisco, will give a lecture in Temperance Hall this evening, on “The Prin-~ ciples of Phrenology.” The lecturer uses this science as a means of determining the nature of diseases. The Doctor brings numerous testimonials as to qualifications. His anuouncement will be found in this paper to-day. The lecture this evening will be free, Spendid Fish.
