Trouble at the Eureka Mine—
Hands Discharged.
Yesterday morning at seven o’clock,
when the “shifts” were changed at the
Eureka. mine, and the underground
miners started for the top they hada
keg of specimens which had been
taken out. In order to get away with
their booty they knocked down the
watchman, and made for the top of the
shaft. The alarm in some way was
given and they did not get the keg
out. Our informant learned that the
underground works were immediately
stopped and all the miners discharged.
Lately the Eureka has. been yielding
very rich rock and a large amount
could be carried off in a keg. We
learn that every effort is being made
to ascertain the parties connected with
the attempt at robbery.
