something—will respond liberally to her appeals. Money cannot be applied to a nobler purpose, Mrs. Bell comes well recommended and her enterprise is heatily endors~

the latter says: “I commend her humane
effort to the favorable consideration of the
people.” From San Francisco she brings
commendations from R. C. Ralston, R. G.
Sneath, J. W. Stow and other prominent

letter in which he says: “She brings such
testimonials from prominent gentlemen in the
East. both civil and military, that I have no

in which she is engaged so justly entitles
her.” The institution for which Mra. Bell is
soliciting is to be erected in one of the inta. ’

ment. A substantial five foot side walk is
deing built the entire length of thy street.—

THEATRE Bauu.-A’ grand ball will be
given at the Theatre on next Monday night.
The supper will be gotten up by Mr. and
‘Mrs. Bailey, which is a-sure guarantee that

REDUCTION IN THE PRice OF WATER.
We areinformed that ata miners’ meeting,
recently held at -Moore’s Flat, the claim

bined together for the purpose of securing
a reduction in the price of water. -On
Tuesday last they requested Col. Abbey,
Superintendent of the Eureka Lake Canal
Company, to.reduce the price of water to
twelve and half cents per inch, exclusive
of all taxes
