NEVADA CITY, CALIFORNIA.
LOCAL INTELLIGENCE. —
Smaun Pox.—We ‘learn frou the
Grass Valley Union that a man. sick . .
with small pox came to that place, put
up at a hotel, sleeping with another
whan, and went around to different
places. Falling-sick the next day he
called on a physician and was made
aware for the first time that he had
small pox. It frequently happens that
persons have this disease for several
days days before they are aware of it,
and on this account extraordinary care
should be taken.
Hotapay Trtks.—A gentleman of
poetic genius, tells us that the follow—
ing from Tennyson's forthcoming poem,
is one of the finest, passages he has ever
seen, It reads:
ae ‘Now that the holidays are near,
well that men of fashion, all,
uld in a stylish suit a pear,
going on a New ear’s call,
Should gentlemen desire to dress in
the tip of the fashion at least expense,
let them call at Banner Bros.’ Clothing

THe WkRaTHER.—There is every evidence that the miners will soon have

Youne Mr Men’s SocraL.— We acknowledge.the receipt of an invitation to the

attended.
WINTER ARRANGEMENTS.—The Colfax stage leaves this city every morning
at a quarter before 6 o'clock, ani the
Marysville stage now makes tri-weekly
trips, Jeaving at 7 o’clock A.M.
Mai, Famure.—The Sacramento

and many subscribers were disappointed
at not receiving the Sacramento Union.

Bed Rock. Tunnel Co., an important,
mining suit which was to have been:
tried in the District Court Curing the

that the Grass Valley authorities have
located their pest house near the Grass .
Valley and French Corral road, and

Crazy.—John Oakley was brought
up, from Grass Valley on Monday,
charged with insanity. He recently ran
away from the County Hospital,
Last Day.—To-morrow will be the
last day for the payment of city taxes
without additional costs. Property
holders should be on hand at the Marshal’s office and ready to “pungle.”
