A Bigger Storm. :
A telegram was received from
Washington yesterday morning, stating that a heavier storm than the last
will visit the Pacific Coast within
forty-eight hours. This prediction
comes from. the Signal Service Department. The last storm, which
commenced on Sunday evening was
predicted on Saturday morning, and
in several recent cases the signal service has notified the people of approaching storms, and the predictions
have been verified. The people of
this locality will do well therefore to
make preparations for a ‘“‘heavy wet.”’

Patent to Grass Valley.
The patent to the town site of
Grass Valley has been received from
Washington and filed in the office of
the County Recorder for record.
The patent covers three hundred and
sixty acres within the corporation
limits of the town. We understand
that the people of Boston Ravine
have made separate application for a
patent, tliat part of the town not
being within the corporation limits
of Grass Valley.Peremptory Sale and no Boy’s
: Play. :
The time has gone by when humbugging can be played upon the people of Nevada county. ‘tA burnt
child fears the fire,’’ and the same
rule can be applied to purchasers—
they want td see the real thing before
they touch the bait, as by experience
they have been compelled to suffer.
Banner Bros. tell the people the truth
when they announce to the world
that a change will take place in their
firm in January 1872, and further
that they will transfer their main
house and business to New York
City, and therefore they will sell their
stock out in this city, at less than
cost prices. Bunner Bros. reputation
is so well established for truth and
veracity, that when they tell the people they offer big. bargains, they always believe it and take advantage
ofit. Banner Bros. will sell $30
suits for $25; $25 beaver suits for
$20; fine $25 coats for $20,and everything inthe store at the same rates.

. Petil and Précaution,
This is a season that tries the frame and
the constitution. If there be a weak spot
in either, the chilling damps, the malarious
fogs, the varieties of temperature that mark
the commencement of the Winter season
are sure to find it. There are few systems
that have not a weak spot somewhere, and
the wisest thing that any man or woman can
do is to fortify it by a course of Hostetter’s
Stomach Bitters, and thus keep the enemy
at bay. In war, when a city is menaced the
first thing to be done is to strengthen the
ramparts. The same policy should be
adopted with the human body, when its
' direst foe, malaria, is abroad. If the stomach is weak, this tonic will lend ft few
vigor; if the bowels are morbidly sénsiti¥e
this alterative will regulate them; ifthe
liver is inert; this wholesome stimulant
will rouse it; if there is constipation, this
aperient will cure it; if there is nervons de
dilfty, this nervine will replace it with nervous vigor; if there is impurity in the blood
this depurent will neutralize it; if there is
a cloud of the spirits this exhilarant will
dispelit. These are facts that have been . demonstrated every day for the last twenty
years. Can as much_be said for any other
Mmedicine—or rather, can as much be proved
for anything may be said by the unscrupulous. Donot acceptany of the local bitters sometimes recommended by dealers in
lieu of the Standard Restorative.
