An Ordinance to Provide Revenue—To Levy a City Road and
Street Poli Tax for the Fiscal
Wear 1888-1889.
PYHE Board of Trustees ofthe City of Nevada do ordain as follows:
section 1. That a City Road and Street
Poll Tax of Three Dollars is hereby levied,
for the Fiscal year 1888 and 1889, upon each
male inhabitant of the City of Nevada, over
the age of 21 and under the age of 50 years for
City Road and Street purposes, which said
pell tax shall become due and shall become
collectable on and after the Twenty-Second
Day of June, 1888, in the mannerprovided
y law.
Section 2. The City Marshal of said City of
Nevada is hereby made collector of said tax
andshall collect the same in the manner
rovided by law, and upon the neglect or re‘usalof any person liable therefor to pay said
tax after demand said Marshal must-collect
the same by. seizure and sale of any personal
property owned by such person. Said sale
may be made after three hours yerbal notice
oftime and place, and the provisions of Sections 3791, 3793, 3794, 3795 and 3796 of the Political Code of California shall apply to and
govern such seizure and sale. 5
Section’, The City Marshal on the first
Monday ofeach month must take oath before the City Clerk of the total amount of
said polltaxes collected by him during the
preceding month, and must atthe same time
pay the same, less the amount of hia percentage for collection, to the City Treasurer,
