‘No PareR:—To~day being Christmas.

‘Store ENTERED AND RoBBED.—On
Monday night: the store of ‘P. Sciutti,
‘on the corner of Pine and Commercial
streets, was éntered and robbed of $21
in cdin.-. The thief tore up severat}
planks ix the sidewalk on Pine street,
‘and let himself down by a rope through
the cellar window. The boards in the
‘cellar are covered with sediment, and
‘seen from the window to the stairway
that leads up into the store.. Just before Sciutti closed, he put the money
under a bottle on the shelf, and no one
would ever have thought of looking
there for it, if he had not seen it put
away. Under. another bottle near by
he put $25, which was not disturbed.
Nothing in the store was touched but
the money, and the rogue having secur.
ed it went out by the back door.
DAMAGE BY THE Storm.—In consequence of the damage to ditches and
flumes by the storm, mining operations
are almost entirely suspended in ‘the
lower part of Bridgeport township.
The heavy flume and iron pipe which
conveys water to Buckeye Hill was
blown down on Sunday, and on Monday
all the ditches were empty in consequence of breaks above. In the San
Joaquin .Company’s claims a heavy cave
occurred, burying hose, pipes, etc.
THE Srorm seems to have been
remarkably severe at Sacramento,
unroofing houses, and blowing down
trees and fences. The Union building . .
lost its roof, the Supreme Court rooms
were flooded, the windows of the State
similar occurrences. The wind must
have been terrific from the reports of
the Sacramento newspapers, At San
Francisco the storm was, probably,
equally as violent. The Sacramentans
still keep their heads above water, and
don’t “believe there is going to be much
of a shower.”
Roven Work.—On Monday night
the Pennsylvania Engine Co., in the
hight of the storm took their jumper
from Rowe’s paint‘shop, which, it was
it, They hada rey rough job.
Moorr’s FLAT.—On Monday night the
gale was terrific at Moore’s Flat. The
Masonic Hall was blown down, and besides the wreck of the building about
$500 worth of property was destroyed
on the inside. The Catholic Chutch
was also entirely destroyed. The damagé‘cannot be less than six thousand
dollars.
OuGHT TO BE STOPPED.—It isa pity
that some of the parties engaged in perpetrating robberies about town cannot
be detected, and punished. Within a!
week five robberies have been, commit=
ted, and fuur'of thé houses have been
entered from the public street.
RoBBED.—On Monday night an old
man who was lodging in the Two Bit
House,on Commercial street,was robbed
$12 while asleep. He had his
money under him, and it is supposed
he was robbed by a man who slept in
the game room with him.
A Wid Goosze.—On Tuésday'a wild
goose was killed a short distance above
town. He was a fine large gander, and
‘was probably separated from a flock by
the gale of Sunday night.
A Foxe Buck.—A fine young biick,
killed near the Lime Kiln in this county,on Sunday last. He was brought
to this city and sold to Fred Bulacher
at the Centre Market. ‘
