at all times, day or night, to attack and rob
persons who are traveling, or to steal away .
any and syerything they ¢an lay their hands
upon. Last week several robberies were
committed upon the Bridgeport road, and
within the past two weeks two or three have

other people, probably because the rogues
think they carry. more money. Teamsters

“knights of the road.”
Honey Caku.— We are indebted to Wim.
Kohler for a sample of delicious honey cake.
This kind of cake is very popular in Germany'and Switzerland at Christmas times—
standing among those people about as ‘mince
pies do among Americans. (‘The honey
cake is certainly the best thing of the kind
we ever tasted. Kohler is supphed not only
with abundance of this, but all ‘other good
things for the holidays.
CHINAMAN Ropsep.— A few days since
a Chinaman was ‘stopped. by robbers near
Newtown and all. the money he had about
him, amounting to between eight and nine
dollars, was taken from him. Just-ahead
of the victim was another Cel ‘stial who had
upon his person several hundred dollars.—
John seeing his countryman stopped by robbers “broke like a quarter horse,” running
himself out of hat and shoes. He succeeded in escaping with his*éin. The thieves
probably started out for the fellow who had
the moriéy, but made a mistake in their man.
RETURNED==Senator Balden and Assemblymen Pattison, Dornin, Leach and “Hatch
have taken advantage of the adjournment
. ofthe Legislature to visit their constituents, :
They are all looking well and legislative
duties seem to have rested lightly upon them:
Since the meeting of the Legislature our
“Representatives have done much for the interests of the county, and the people are
glad tu have an opportunity of seeing them
The county never was better represented
in the Legislature thanit ie at this time.

Christmas in that town was attended with
innumerable “black “dal and “bloody

PRESENTS MIssING.—We are reiiunied

have articles which they lave reason to
believe, were designed for others, will confer a favor by returning them to Robert
Stewart, Main. street, opposite the South
Yuba Canal Co's. office, so that they may be
identified, if possible, and given to their legitimate owners. The articles lost, were
all properly labeled, but many on receiving
them, no doubt, tore off the labels without
examining them closely, to see'to whom
they were directed.

the use of medicincs may not be more adavatageous in somecares, but, that in connectioa with

Connected with this system are the renowned
Electro-Magnetic Baths,
than which there ig. no more powerfni auxiliary
in the world for the radical cure of disease.
There is no institute in the State where the
electropathic system is practiced, except at the
Electropathic Institute ite,
645 Washington street.
This Institute was established to, if possible,
prevent the unwary irom falling into those dens
of robbery (yclept quack doctors’ traps), and
hereafter the scientific originators of this Institute will notbe to blame if the afflicted are
robbed of their money, and injured.in constitution. There is also another view of the affair.
The rising generation should be reared with
strong constitution, and the Directors wish to
arouse their guardians to a Pro r setise of
their duties in their premises, if possible to
revent them from stu 3 their young $e
with deleterious drugs. with a chance of entailing upon the tender constitution feo forming,
a complication of evils, a thousan
than death.
it would be consuming space, to no purpose,
to enumerate the diseases to which this system
is applicable, suffice it to say, that there is no
disease, within the catal pss of human ills but
what can be cured at the Electropathic Institute.
We have instructed the Resident Physician to
warrant a perfect and
