Store Robbed.
On Friday night last a very ingenious robbery was committed at
the variety store of A. Rosenthal, on
Commercial street. -Some person or
persons entered the Kelsey ravine
flunie above the place where it crosses China Town street, and crawled
down it until they reached f Point
directly under the rear porch of Ro2
~ sentifal’s. They then pried off somé
of the boards of the porch floor, and
got up, where, by the use of.a bar of
some kind, they wrenched Open the
back door and made their entrance
into the store, where they gobbled
Up as Much as they saw fit to take.
Among other things they took nine.
eases of hard tobacco, a lot of pipes,
jars of candies, smoking tobacco, &c.
The goods were passed down into
the flume and packed away. On entering the store Saturday morning.
Mr. Rosenthal discovered his loss,
and commenced looking ‘around the
establishment. His son and a couple of other boys entered the flume
and followed it up to a point under
the drug store of Bell. & Belden,
making close. observations between
the two points, ‘and they were rewarded by finding six cases of the
+ tobacco and some of the pipes wher®"
the thieves had secreted them. They
also followed up the flume until they
came to where it is uncovered, which
is in the rear: of Chinatown, . and
there they found the tracks of the
men who performed the rob ry.
(Was a great mistake in removing the
stolen goods from where they were
found. If a close watch had been
kept for a few days, the thief or
“thieves might easily have been nabbed. Mr. Rosenthal’s actual loss is.
* about $175.

‘South Grass Valley,
@When the town of ‘Grass Valley
was founded, it was not anticipated
that it would grow to bea town re:
quiring much larger boundaries than
when first surveyed, but the present
residents have discovered the fact
and have let a contract to Merry &
Smith to make @ survey, which will
bring all the immediate suburbs inside the city limits, and they will
soon commence the work.

to keep them white and spotless.
No tartar can encrust them, no canker affect the enamel, no species of decay infest the dental bone, if SOZODONT is regularly used. It is a
