Butitseems to renew the hope which was destroyed by the recent elections throughout the North, and encourages the unrepentant rebels to continue the war against loyalty which has been so bitterly waged under the guise of the damnable incubus called “the President's policy.” Johnson is to blame that the Southern States are not now repre “‘pénted in Congress. Through . his policy . the rebels were encouraged to elect the most infamous traitors to office, and by his aid the loyal men of the South were driven from their homes, or murdered, and acts which reSulted from Johnson’s policy and the rebel hope that this policy would be endorsed in the loyal States. Rebel hopes fell when the result of the elections was known and some of the leaders advised the adoption of the amendments.— Johnson immediately went to work with the intention, if possible, of overriding the popular will, and rendering the Union victory as barren as he could. With no hope of finding support for his heresies among loyal men he has gone to traitors, and isnow hand in hand with rebels in South Carolina, seeking with their aid to do what he could not do in the North.— He would now leave the Constitution in the hands of Jeff. Davis, Clay and other rebels to be torn in pieces and trampled under foot. He has at last found his level and is applauded by traitors and execrated by every lover of the country. The investigating Committees of Congress are at work on his case, and we hope they may find sufficient evidence to hurl him from the position he occupies. He is a disgrace . to the country, and his administration will ever be a blot on the history of the Re public. INSTALLATION.—.—The installation of officers in Nevada Lodge, No. 13, F. and A. BREACH OF ,PRoMISE—It is so seldom that a case of scandal occurs in this neighborhood, says the Grass Valley Union, that when anything in that line catches the public ear, it cannot fail to create a sensation. The action is for a breach of promise of marriage, and damages will be Jaid at $10,000.
