after his incarceration, and subsequently acted as foreman of 100

with such intelligence as to save the
State much money, About two

Disappointed Prospectors.
Some prospectors came to town a
couple of days. ago with specimens
of ore from a newly discqvered ledge
about ten miles this side lof Downie:
ville. They had found it through
the assistance of an electrical appratus constracted by Mr. Heath,
oae of their number, and were in
high spirits. The rock was queer

town over the discovery. Finally J,
J. Ott made a fire assay of it, and
found that it contained about 80
eonts worth of gold per ton, and was
barren-4of silver, tin and platina.
