LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
REWARD FOR THE MURDERER.—The
State and county authorities have acted
with great promptness in offering rewards
for the arrest of the. murderer or murderers of Cooper and Kyle, one week ago at
the Yuba bridge. Governor Low has offered a reward of $1,000. The Board of
Supervisors have offered $2,000 and Manchester, one of the dwners of the bridge,
with James Patton a cousin of Cooper, have
offered $500. -The detective who succeeds
in bringing the guilty parties to justice
will be amply rewarded, and will besides
receive the commendations of good citizens,
Tae Raw Faui.—During the storm
which commenced on last Friday morning
about 1 o'clock and continued up to Saturday night, the old guage at the South
Yuba Canal Co’s. office, indicated a fall of
2:50 inches. According to the Tennent
guage 3:14 inches fell during the same
time. The measurement was made on
Sunday morning at 10 o'clock.
NEw MILL.—We understandthat parties from San Francisco have taken a contract to erect a twelve stamp quartz mill
upon the Big Blue ledge, owned by the
quarter of a mile east of the old Eagle saw
mill on Deer Creek, It has been thoroughly prospected and its richness has been
demonstrated. The ledge is large, and
with good hoisting and pumping machinery, such a mill asthe parties design to
erect can be kept constantly at work.
—
Tae Dancrne ScHoou.—In consequence .
of the unpleasant weather, J. C. Dickinparty, which was announced for this. evening. Mr. Dickinson has had the Theatre
thoroughly cleaned and the floor waxed.
The members of his class are requested to
meet at the Theatre on Wednesday evening, when the first lesson will be given.
Due notice will be given of the party.
ee
Dr. BENTON.—The stormy weather
prevented the people from attending the
lectures on psychology, announced by Dr.
H. A. Benton, and the course has been
deferred to a more favorable season. The
Grass Valley, for a short time, where he
may be consulted by those who desire his
services.
REVENUE.—The total amount of taxes
paid to the County Collector and the County Treasurer, during the month of November, was $56,822°73. More than half of
this goes to the State.
Dry Goops.—M. Rosenberg & Bro., advertise that they have just received a splendid stock of dress and fancy goods of the
latest styles, and that they are ready to
supply the ladies at very low prices. See
advertisement in to-day’s paper.
New SALoon.—Kistle & Oates have just
opened a saloon one door below the N ational Exchange Hotel. They are ready to
supply all sorts of refreshments for the inher man at the “Miners’ Arms.” See announcement in another column.
’ CuTaNEvs eruptions, pimples, boils, &c.,
are readily removed by a free use of Hall’s
Sarsaparilla Yellow Dock and Iodide of
Potass. For sale by all regular druggists.
DE.ictous ToBacco.—We are indebted
to Zekind, of Greenwald’s tobacco and cigar establishment, for a paper of delicious
tobacco of the Lorillard Siesta brand. It
is a splendid tobacco and we advise smokers
to try it.
etc We understand that the
of the Congregational Sunday
School will take place at the Theatre in
this city, on Saturday evening next.
THEATRICAL.—Miss Kingsbury, supported by John McCollough, Kate Denin
and a fine stock company, commences an
engagement in Sacramento this evening.
The company is expected in this city next
week or the week after ae”
