City*Assessment. é The City Assessment Rell for the current year is completed, and was delivered over to the Beard ef Trustees on Fridey evening, by W. H. Davidson, the Assessor. The total valuation of property of all kinds is $671,655, being an increase of $24,675 over the assessed valuation last year, The Assessment ‘Boll will remain in the hands of. the Clerk at the Marshal's office, and be open to public inspection until the 13th instant, when.it will be turned over to vhe Marshal for collection, The Trustees wfll meet on Friday evening, the 9th instant, as a Board of Equalization, when property holders dissatisfied with athe valuation of their property will have an opportunity te be heard. A Change in Donations,By reference to the advertisement today, it will be seen that the managers of the Musical Festival have made a change in the donations of gifts, with the consent of all parties interested. The donation to/the Nevada School Fund has been changed from $10,000 to $7,000, and an appropriation of $2,600 made to the Nevada City Library: and $1,000 to the City Fire Department. Pork Packing. -Cashin & Kent's pork packing establishment, on the Grass Valley road, is now turning out a large, quantity of . hams, bacon and superior lard. They have now on hand an abundant supply for the market at home and abrvuad. The product of this establishment is of the best quality, the meat being cured with the greatest care and the lard made entirely of pork and by the best process. The whole establishment is neat and clean, and every part of the ‘process is conducted with great care. The advertisement will be found in today’s paper. Evening Service. We'understand that evening services in the Methodist and Baptist churches, has been changed, during the long Winter evenings, from half past 7 to 7 o'clock. Arrangements have been made to have the Court Hourse bell rung in accordance with the change. a A Beep Drive. > Yesterday an instrament was filed for record in the County Recorder's office. In the description of property the following occurs : “Extending down the-canyon toa piece of iron driven into the bedrock 700 feet more or less.” That.is certainly a long old drive. From Rome.
