Do The Omvha Mine. Tidings: The Omaha mine’s machinery is now running with water from the North Star, the ditch and pipe line, also the reeervoir, having been completed. One mile of ditch was constructed and 1,500 feet of 22inch pipe laid. Seventy-five men, all on day’s pay, are employed at the Omaha. The ore continues of profitable grade and the ledge ranges in size from ten inches to three feet. The mill, of eighteen stamps, is run night and days Sinking will-soon be-inaug urated. An tnsane Centenarian, James W. Weare, who lives with his son John at. Pleasant Ridge in this county, has become insane. He is something like 100 years of age. The Transegipr reporter got to talking the other evening with Harry Seymour about his drift mining property just north of ‘own. and asked the old pioneer some questions about lis experience, plans, property, ete, ““My experience,’’ said Mr. Seymour, ‘‘has been this: In 1850 I located and worked claims on Oregon Hill on the Coyote channel, my partner being Wm. Maltman, since deceased. We realized $15,090 «piece in two months and three days, In 1852, ’53 and ’54-I mined in the Mountain Summit claim, on Manzanita Hill, that-ground now being included in the Manzanita Company’s mine. In 1855, 56 and ’57, I was an:owner in the Nevada mine on Selby Hill adjoining the Nebraska. In 1858 I became an ewner in the Live Oak and’ Nebraska mines. I worked in those’ claims till 186). Ihave sunk on the Coyote lead 33 shafts, and never found gold in but one of them until I got below the last Strata of pipe-clay. “As to my.title to the Nebraska claim: 1 own in it fourteen-twentieths by purchase and by deeds. Should the Woodville Company be possessed rota Gnited States patent, Town fourteen*twentieths in that patenf, as the Wood villelocators were partnérs with me in the Nebraska. @ own. foursixths by purchase in the Wait for the Wagon, and all of it by virtue of having done the annual Work’ on it without the aid. of co-owners, under the provisions of section 2324 of the United States -mining laws. I own the whole of the Woodville, Nebraski and Wait for the Wagon, consolidated, by virtue.of tax title issued to Philije Richards in 1878, and by him transferred to me in 1885. No person but Richards and myself be-ve paid ‘any taxes on the property since 1878. This according to the code of civil proced ure, section 325, virtually. debars any adverse claimants from a standing in court. : ““You may want to know what reason I have for believing the CoyoteNebraska channel continues up the ridge above the point where I worked itin the Nebraska mine. In 1866 a Mr. Stokes worked on a ravine _leading into the center of the ridge froii the north side, a short distance above where Monroe’s now is The Harmony Company over a mile About vineyard the north side of the ridge and tunneled 1200 feet to the center of “the drowned the miners out. conclusively the continuation’ of the io . channel up the ridge. appointinent us Supreme Jude vice . , “You ask how I hope to accomplish . » udge Temple, resigned, follows: ‘‘I‘um endeavoring to find . the opening of the ground. rilpe:Phe first 490 of the tarnet wir level; the next 800 descen ‘ed 4 feét in . the 100. This brought the inner end of the tunnel 32 feet below the drainage of the shaft. At this point the . bedrock was pitching over 45 degrees, . . 1. W. and the water came in so rapidly ir This proves I hive insorporated thé Nebraska and Wait for he Wagon, claims as the Odin Gold worked, virgin ground as produced $4,900,000 to former, companies working there. After deducting the expenses of operating the claim at present prices of labor and material, there will be left for the Odin Coinpany, acvording to my computations, over $1,500,000. The Odin Company offers 25,000 shares for sale at 50 cents a share, ,in order t> raise working capital. This stock is unassessable till June Ist, 1890. This is at the rate of $75,000 for the whole property, which actually cost me between $80,050 and $85,000, not counling my time, labor and yexation. “It has been for thirty years ny main objectin life to open and work this claim on anextensivescale, The benefits that would result from it can be seen from these facts: The Live Oak disbursed from March, 1858, till June, 1860, for labor and material, $302,000; the Nebraska from November, 1858, till June, 1860, spent $150,009; the .Young America in fourteen months ending in. June, 1860, spent $120,000. This made the total outlay for expenses $572,000. “The plans and estimates for all the machinery, buildings, mining timbers, etc., have been completed, and within ninety days from the breaking of ground I can get the claimon a selfsustaining basis. In from six to eight weeks more it shall be -paying dividends. These are not wild statements, but based on my practical knowledye of the ground that Iam in possession of.”? HE FOLLOWED SUIT. My wife has been under physicians care for two years, for what they called “liver complaint.” She would get some relief while taking prescriptions, but would soon fall back into the same drowsy, inactive state. I got her a bottle of “The California Remedy,” Joy's Vegetable Sarsaparilla. It did her immediate good, and when three bottles had been taken she regained her old accustomed health and spirits and is uow as well as ever. Seeing the benefit she derived, 1 used it for rheumatism with the result that I am now entirely free from the disease with which I had suffered for over a year. : fo Kamfphour— %%5 Turk street, San Francisco.
