Chicken, Stealing.
” . On Tuesday night Charley Miller’s
‘hen roost was robbed of eight chick_mgns,' He Tias a very savage dog but
” the rogues went for his roost while
the dog was in front of the house.
The chickens were taken from the
roost so quietly that the dog did not
hear them-until they were leaving.
He went for the rogues and gave the
These are unhealthy times for chickens. Some roost is robbed every
night because Chinese New Year is
pear at band. An insurance on
chickens just before Chinese New
Year would not-be safebusiness.
Must Have Receipts.
Those who sell chickens to Chinagen should give them a receipt, or
certificate of the fact. Marshal Get~ ¢hell is after Chinese chicken stealers
and hethinks they are mighty smart.
He says they steal chickens at night
and hide them for a few*days, and
then bring them to market in day__. Jight. The Marshal says=he is determined évery Chinaman shall have . .

Tho absence of such receipt will be
considered by the Marshal prima facia
evidence that the Celestial has been
after somebody’s hen coop.
‘Drawing of the Grand Jury.
“Hon. John Caldwell, County Judge,
— County—Clerk Rogers, and—Sheriff
Dickson, met at the Clerk’s office
yesterday and drew from the box 24}~
names-of_persons-who are to constitute the next Grand Jury. The following are the names drawn: W. R.
Coffey, J. H. Bracket, James Buckland, Wm. Biggs, L. A. Walling,

. The true_philosophy of health is simple.
much more carefully
guarded than 4f is at present, and the average of human life lengtliened by many
years, if common sense and theffight of ex.’
perience were accepted by the universal
Public as their medical monitor "dnd guide.
It consists in refraining from indulgences
and imprudences which impair the vital
forces, and in supplying any deficiency of
vital power and constitutional vigor that
may exist, by invigorating and alterative
treatment. To reinforéé& ‘gulate a
ble system, and to prevent a more vigorous
Physique frem yielding to unhealthy and
debilitating influences, Hostetter’s Stomach
Bitters is unquestionably: the most potent
of all vegetable purifiers. As a stimulant
it is the purest ever administered-in medi. Cal practice;.as a tonic and ag a stomachic-}——
the most infallible; as an ar.ti-bilious agent;
the safest and surest, and as an aperient and
regulating médicine, mild and painless, yet
irresistible. it is-a-protection against disease Of every kind, and all seasons, and is
particularly efficacious as a means of -forearming the system against the ailments
generated by a raw, damp, ungenial atmosphere. Hence its great value as a Winter
tonic and invigorant. No one predisposed
to indigestion. biliousness, constipation,
rheumatism or nervous head ache, should
ever be without this Vital Elixir. As a certain class of country dealérs are very_anxious to dose the customers with “local bitters,” of a worthless or pernicious characperior té& the great national tonic, the public
is hereby forewarned against their “tricks
of trade.”
