The author of this bill did net leave

the absolute suppression of all kinds’
of mining. This bill éxplains the intent, also, of the two foriner: qhes.
‘They ali mean to outlaw a pursuit in
which many millions,of capital are
embarked, ou which depends the
daily bread of scores.of thousands of
people, and which is the main induatry of a fourth of the counties ofthe
“State. To be sure, that the. desperate criminals who-extract gold by the
various processes of mining shall be
punished by fine and imprisonment,
they are to be ‘tried’ remote from

Death of Mrs. A. H. Parker. .
Mrs. Elizabeth J. Parker, wife of
A. H. Parker, died at the family

evening, after a lingering illness of
